ITINERARY

 

Day 1 ARRIVE SHANGHAI

Arrive Shanghai, china‘s largest metropolitan city, you are greeted and escorted to check in to your 4 star Ramada Plaza Hotel

MEALS: Dinner

 

Day 2 SHANGHAI to YICHANG

Sightsee Shanghai’s highlights: Yu Garden and Jade Buddha Temple. After lunch, fly to Yichang where you board your deluxe President Cruise Ship and settle into your comfortable outside cabin to begin your memorable cruise upstream.

Day 3 • YANGTZE RIVER CRUISE:
Stop at San Dou Ping this morning to see the historic Three Gorges Dam project. Reboard the ship and sail through the dramatic Three Gorges Ship lock before continuing through Xiling Gorge, longest of the famed Three Gorges.

Day 4 • YANGTZE RIVER CRUISE:
Early this morning, delight in Wu Gorge's deep zigzagging valley. At Wushan, transfer to a motorboat for an exciting excursion on either Daning River or Shennong Stream to view their breathtaking small gorges. Reboard the ship and soon pass through the dramatic grandeur of Qutang Gorge, framed by steep cliffs.

Day 5 • YANGTZE RIVER CRUISE:
Today's shore excursion shows the magnificent 12-story wooden pagoda known as the "Pearl of the Yangtze" in scenic Shibaozhai.

*Alternate shore excursion may visit Fengdu or Wanzhou.

 

Day 6 • CHONGQING to DAZU

Morning cruising through now-gentle countryside to Chongqing, where you disembark the ship. On arrival, motorcoach to Dazu, famed for its Buddhist archeological sites. Lunch in Dazu; sightseeing includes monumental Buddhist sculptures at Beishan and Baodingshan. Return to Chongqing in the late afternoon and check into your 5 star Hilton Chongqing Hotel. This evening, enjoy a traditional Sichuan Opera performance.

Day 7 CHONGQING to LHASA/TSEDANG

This morning, your Tibet adventure begins as you fly to Lhasa. Continue by motorcoach to Tsedang, where you check in to the Tsedang Hotel. The rest of the day is free to adjust to the altitude of one of the world's highest plateaus---about 12,000 ft. above sea level.

Day 8 TSEDANG

A full day tour includes Yumbulagang, said to be the oldest structure in Tibet, 9th century Dratang Monastery and the Tomb of the Tibetan Kings, ancient burial place of Tibetan royalty.

Day 9TSEDANG to GYANTSE

Take a drive to Gyantse, a town southwest of Lhasa and an important regional center in the 15th century. Tour Pelkor Chode Monastery and the Kumbum, a stupa comprised of hundreds of chapels said to contain 100,000 Buddha images. Check in to the Gyantse Hotel.

Day 10GYANTSE to SHIGATSE

This morning, a short tour of Gyantse before you drive to Shigatse. Visit Tashilumpo Monastery, built in 1447. Check in to the Shigatse Hotel.

Day 11 SHIGATSE to LHASA

Today's drive takes you to Lhasa, where you arrive in the late afternoon.Dinner and overnight at the Lhasa Hotel.

Day 12LHASA

An extraordinary day of sightseeing shows the spectacular architecture at the world-famous Potala Palace. Former living quarters of the Dalai Lama,its massive 1000-room structure towers over this mountain city. Then visit famous Barkhor Market, where you can shop for rare Tibetan items. See one

of Tibet's holiest shrines, revered 7th century Jokhang Temple, with its statue of the Sakyamuni Buddha, lavishly enthroned in gold. This evening, enjoy dinner at a local restaurant.

Day 13LHASA

You'll not soon forget Nobrulingkha (Precious Stone Garden), built on the orders of the 7th Dalai Lama in the 18th century. Then tour Drepung Monastery, tiered against a mountain in traditional Tibetan style, once home to more than 10,000 Lamas.

Day 14 LHASA to BEIJING

This morning, bid farewell to the mountains of Tibet as you fly to Beijing On arrival, check in to the 4 star Guangxi Plaza Hotel

Day 15 BEIJING

After breakfast, out to visit the Badaling Great Wall, the Sacred Way, the Ming Tombs. This evening you are invited to a delicious Beijing Duck welcome dinner.

Day 16 BEIJING

Sightsee Tiananmen Square, the Forbidden City and the Temple of Heaven.

 This evening, you may enjoy an optional performance of the 200-year old Peking Opera show.

Day 17 • DEPART BEIJING

This morning visit the Summer Palace. After the tour, transfer to the airport for your flight onward.
